Top Deals at CVS Starting 1/9

For so long, I have been posting all the deals for each week at the big drug stores. In case you may not have noticed, Brandy's Big Bargains 2.0 is heading in a new direction. I will still be posting deals for the drug stores each week, however, I realized that the majority of people out there, do not go into a drug store, and fill up a carriage. No, they go in to buy a few things here and there. I am no different. The only reason why I enter the drug store is to purchase this week's freebie items, or biggest deals. So starting today, I will only be posting the top 5 free or biggest deal items each week. With that said here are this week's top 5 deals at CVS, plus one deal idea.

If you're working on trying to stock pile, you probably already know that you can't do this all at once. You need to concentrate on a single item, maybe two. Last week, we broke into our last 24 pack of bath tissue. Last week, I bought 3- 24 packs of Angel soft bath tissue for $10.00 each. I used 3 - $1.00/1 printable coupons, I used a $5.00 off CVS coupon that was emailed to me, you can get some of those email coupons HERE. I also used $13.79 in ExtraCare Bucks I had from the week before. I paid just $8.21 plus tax for 72 Rolls of Toilet paper, plus I received back $10.00 in ExtraCare Bucks. Worst case scenario is my family uses roughly 250 rolls per year. This week, here's what I'm doing.

The deal is buy $25.00 worth of Kleenex, Cottonelle, or Scott products, & get $10.00 in ECB's back.

Mega Swagbucks Day - Earn Gift Cards

Don't forget that today is Mega Swagbucks day! Do your searches, download your toolbar, search for the codes, and earn, earn, earn!

Here are some tips to help you earn more Swagbucks. If you're not yet a member of Swagbucks, you'll want to make sure you sign up as soon as possible! I paid for half of my Christmas presents last year with Swagbucks alone! Many people are earning, and savig them up for new computers! Yes you heard me correctly new computers! I, myself have earned enough Amazon gift cards to save over 60% on my Holiday Shopping!

1. Use Swagbucks to search the web.

Instead of using google use swag bucks. I usually find what I am looking for, and if not, I just switch back to google. When you search using swag bucks you randomly win bucks. Usually once in a 24 hour period I find.

2. Install the Swagbucks toolbar.

I can’t believe I didn’t do this months ago. I installed the toolbar and I usually win several swag bucks a day for doing nothing! It will just pop up on your computer screen that you won a swagbuck or two!

3. Purchase items through Swagbucks.

The swag bucks website usually has incentive programs if you buy through their affiliate links, where you will get one or two or 5 Swagbucks per dollar spent at various websites.

4. Trade in your old Cell phones and video games for Swagbucks.

Yep, it depends upon the age of your cell phone and the type of video game, but you'll get a varied amount of Swagbucks for each item you trade in. You simply choose which item from a drop down bar, and once you find your item, you'll see how many Swagbucks it's worth. Then you can print out prepaid postage, and wait until they receive it!

5. Find The Swag Codes!

These are released approximately once a day and they can appear anywhere, at any time, throughout the Swag Bucks website, including the Official Swag Bucks blog, Facebook Fan Page, Twitter page, Flickr page; and affiliated partner sites. When you find the code, enter it in the swag code box on the site and earn bucks.

And now New Swagbucks!

6. Watch Swagbucks TV!

Earn extra Swagbucks just for watching videos. You can choose from several different topics, just remember to pay close attention, as they ask a few questions. You don't earn Swagbucks on every video it's random.

Raising Girls, Who Happen to be Twins

The most heard compliment when my husband and I take our girls to restaurants, or outings, or big events, has always been, "What wonderful and polite girls you have." I'll be honest this never gets old! I enjoy hearing that phrase now just as much as I enjoyed it 10 years ago. This is our biggest accomplishment to date.

Looking at our girls, makes me extremely proud to be their Mom, and I can see it in my husband's eye's, just how proud he is to be their Dad. I see the way they interact with their peers, with the pets, with each other, and with adults each day, and I can't help but to wonder what it exactly was or is that we did to make this happen. Are twins easier? I don't think so, in most cases I think it's actually harder, though I can't speak from experience there. Monetary wise, I absolutely know it's harder. Take this Christmas for example. It wasn't a single ebook reader, it was two. It wasn't a single laptop, it was two. It wasn't three pairs of jeans for 1 it was six pairs of jeans for 2.

I get asked this question quite often. "What did we do?" Looking over the last 13 years, I can't say that it was a single thing we did. My husband and I come different backgrounds. He, from a family who love, and enjoy being around each other, at least 99% of the time. I say 99% of the time, because I know first hand, my Mom-in-Law loves getting the TV remote come November when it's hunting season! His parents, being the ultimate in role models, and not only married, but happily married. You can see that. It shows in their interaction with one another, as well as with the interaction they share with everyone else who comes into contact with them. Each one of their boys different in personality, but all having the same values, and morals that carry them through their lives.

I grew up living with my Mom, and stepfather, visiting my Dad and stepmother on weekends, and then just on school vacations when they moved to Florida. Divorce was not a stranger. I'm not saying my childhood was bad. It wasn't in the least, it was just different. I got to see how two separate types of families lived. On the one hand I would take great family trips with my Dad, and stepmother to places like Disney, Pompano Beach, and Hershey Park. I also got to see the other side of it. The side that isn't fun. The side where my mom would make Christmas crafts all Summer long to be able to provide for me. Maybe that's why I love Christmas decorations so much, some of the best memories I have is sitting on the kitchen floor staining reindeer with my Mom in the middle of July.

Fast forward to years later, looking back on all the life events that have taken place, maybe it's the combination of ALL our parents values, and morals that have made my girls who they are today. In less than a month they officially become teenagers. I've heard all the comments, "Oh wait, you'll see..." I don't think I will. I heard those same statements when our girls were 2 and then again at 3. We missed all those "terrible" years. Our girls come home from junior high and tell us things, that I don't think I would have ever said, they ask questions that I would have never asked. I like that kind of communication that we have with them.

Come to think of it, maybe it's the way we have always answered their questions, or the way that we have always communicated with them. I don't think we have ever sugar coated something to fit their age, we've always been honest with them. We've shown them the bills when they ask why can't we get this or why can't we do that. They know that credit cards still have to be paid with cash, and they know about interest on those credit cards. They know how to manage the minutes on each of their phone lines without ever going over them. ( I will admit, this even shocked me!) They have handled some adult issues I think better than some adults would, like doing the right thing by telling someone when a friend is hurting themselves and needs help.

So, no. It's not a single thing that we as parents have done, but a combination of what we do, and how we do it on a daily basis that makes them such independant, polite, positive individuals that I am proud to call my daughters. And, when they turn 13 next month, I will embrace it, enjoy it, and reflect on the little girls that they will always be.

Stop & Shop Top Deals for 1/7

Stop & Shop is holding a Gigantic stock up sale. Don't be fooled by these words. Many of these sales, are truly not stock up sale prices. For instance, on the front page of their ad, you will see Prince pasta on sale at a price of 10/$10.00. If you're thinking that this would be a good time to stock up on pasta, you would be wrong. Pasta goes on sale in the northeast for as low as 77¢ per box. Often times with coupons, you can get this price down to just pennies. With that said, here are the best deals that I see for this week at Stop & Shop.

Ted Williams, a 2nd Chance.

2nd chance stories touch us. This one is really no different from the rest. Ted Williams, a homeless man, living on the streets of Ohio, has what people are calling a "Golden Radio Voice". He was the center of the first "viral" video of 2011.

Again, 2011 looks to be as if it's a turning point for more than just myself. Ted Williams will remember 2011 as the year for him as well. He has become an overnight sensation, literally. He has been offered jobs hand over fist, a mortgage, TV and radio appearances, etc. I have heard people say, that "He is set for life." Major brands, and companies are all clamoring for his voice. Are they willing to provide the man with guidance as well as a paycheck, so that he can truly succeed?

Everyone should be given a 2nd chance, I am definitely not disputing that. I am going to point out the obvious, this is a man that, for one reason or another, turned to drugs and alcohol once before. My hopes for him is that along with these offers, help with the overwhelming opportunities comes with these packages. This is a man who despite his authenticity, will need help. He will not be set for life, unless he has help to manage these offers, and help to remain clean.

I'm sure many of us will be watching more as his story unfolds further, as the voyeur effect has now reached it's peak.

With a brand new year, and a brand new outlook on positivity, I feel that my blog should reflect that. Beginning tomorrow, you'll see a whole new side of Brandy's Big Bargains.

Taking on 2011

2011 looks to be like it's going to be busy year for us. Come February, my little girls officially turn into teenagers. I'm not sure if this is a good thing or not yet... February, we will also be heading down to Disney with my awesome in-laws. We are all excited about going, and the girls have now begun to count down the days until we leave.

My husband and I really needed to celebrate and ring in the New Year, and we have definitely noticed a difference all ready. I don't think it's just us either. I think many people and many families were hard hit in 2010, and are embracing the fact that a new year is upon us.

In just a few days, I have noticed more generosity in the people that we have run into. I had to purchase prescription antibiotics for my dog at CVS, which, by the way did you know that your pet can be added to their patient database? I did not know this until last week. I did not have AAA, seems that I forgot to renew it last year. If I had had a AAA card I could have saved an additional $22.00. As I am in line, a very nice man behind me, gave the clerk his card for me to use. (Due to his size, my vet, gave me a scrip, instead of pills, as they would have been double the cost at the vet's office.)

This past Sunday, our storm door, had caught the wind, and whipped open, causing the Easy Glide Door Closures to break. Head to Home Improvement store, where we knew it was a custom door, so we were prepared to hear that each closure would be around $50.00 The awesome clerk there, went into the back where he appeared a few minutes later with a set of them, and said Happy New Year, these are company samples they send to us, we can't sell them...they're free.

Just yesterday, as I was waiting in line at the grocery store, as the woman in front of me checked out, she had a coupon that she could not use, a $4.00 off your purchase of $40.00 or more, she looked at my items, handed me the coupon, and said, "We all should be helping each other, looks like you can use this."

Maybe the old adage of "Positive people attract positive things." is in fact true. I know that my attitude has changed for the better since we made plans to celebrate the New Year.

Have you noticed a difference?

Are You Using Your Smart Phone To The Fullest?

I have always been picky about my cell phone. I have been known to return several of them, after "test driving" them for a day or two, just to make sure it does everything I want and need it to do.

With one of my resolutions / goals for 2011 being to become more organized, as I wrote in an earlier post, I realized that even I wasn't using my phone to the fullest. I spent the last several nights, shopping in the Andriod market looking for the best free apps that I could find, that would allow me to utilize ALL my phones potential, and help me stay on track.

So how do you know which apps will help you? Take a few minutes to look at your daily activities, and jot some down. Then just head to your "Market Store" on your cell phone, and start searching! If you need help, in the Andriod market there is a "Best Apps App" that will search for all the best and top rated apps that hit the market!

That being said, I will admit I now have over 75 different apps to help me do, everything. As a blogger, mom, and wife, I need to be connected, and connected I am.

As a Blogger:

Blogger App
LinkedIn App (Driodin)

As a Bargain Shopper:

Cell phones are not just cell phones now-a-days. They are pocket sized computers that, with responsibility can be a HUGE asset to your daily life. Just because I am connected to just about everything, everywhere, doesn't mean that I grab my phone the instant it beeps, which is quite often. When I'm driving, I also have No Texting Software. This software allows me to stay focused on the task at hand when driving, the Road!

Happy New Year!

I hope everyone had a safe and happy New Year's Eve last night. My husband and I spent ringing in the New Year with Lynyrd Skynyrd at Foxwoods Casino last night. It was a great time, and a great way to spend New Years.

I was thinking all day yesterday about New Year's, what it means, and how different things affect different people. Whether you call them resolutions or goals, it's all the same, you're striving for something more, or something different. Some people spend time reflecting on what the past year brought them, or how they wished they had done something differently. Some of us think about how we can better themselves, and yet some even create larger goals to reach for.

2010 has taught me several great life lessons that I will carry with me always. I learned that absolutely no one in this world is perfect. I learned how to truly forgive. I have learned what it feels like to be truly forgiven. I have learned that in an instant, you can lose everything, so embrace, enjoy, and love, every single day. I have learned that no matter what life brings you, you can indeed bring yourself through it. I have learned that I cannot do everything, everyday, but I can do everything, everyday if I ask for help. I have learned that I am married to one of the world's greatest men. He is my best friend, my rock, my soul mate, and I don't want to go this road on life's path without him...Ever.

2010 was a year that will be remembered by our family for a multitude of reasons, both good as well as bad. We will not dwell on the why's, or should haves.

We will embrace 2011, and welcome it with open arms. I am looking forward to what 2011 has in store for me, for my family, for my friends. I have made my resolutions, as well as create some goals for myself, both professionally and personally, and I am looking forward to making the most of each and everyday.

So to everyone, may 2011 bring you health, happiness and peace. I will be taking the rest of today off to get some much needed things done, and spend time with my family.
