NEW Degree Nature Effects Printable Coupon

Degree has a new deodorant out.  Right now you can print out a coupon good for $1.00/1.  I am not able to print out some of these coupons right now, as we don't have a printer, so I can't tell you just how long the coupon is good for once you print it.

A Big Thank You....

I wanted to take a moment to thank each and everyone of you, all the awesome bloggers who have been helping me keep my blog up to date with fresh content, all of the wonderful readers who have sent my family and I well wishes, those who contributed to our PayPal account to help us get by with necessities, our daughters wonderful school who have helped us tremendously, and to those who have been in a position to help by sending gift cards for groceries.  It has been so wonderful to see that there are so many truly wonderful and caring people still out there.

Many of you have asked me how they can help, and have asked where they can send items to. A lot of you have asked if I am in need of coupons.  The answer to this is absolutely!  I went today and set up a PO Box so that if you are able to, and would like to, you can help me get my coupon stash back up to where it once was.

Brandy Bacon
PO Box 9700
Warwick, RI, 02889

To anyone who is interested in contributing monatarily, please note we had to change our Paypal account email address.  You can still donate to our new Paypal account, (We cancelled our verizon account, I'll fill you in a bit more on a later post, I wanted all verizon appliances out of my house, as this was what we believe started our house fire, though two separate fire inspectors left it undetermined!)   Our new Paypal account is:  jonpaul620 (AT) yahoo (DOT) com

I cannot express the amount of gratitude my family has for everyone who has helped us, wished us well, and kept us in their prayers.  I thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

Comes in Three's...

Okay, things really do come in three's!  Sunday as my husband was driving home from work, he blew his tire out.  Well nothing was open on Sunday due to the holiday, so we had to wait to get it fixed.  Granted this was nothing compared to the last two weeks with the fire and then the flood, however I'm counting this as the third thing, so maybe now our luck will change for the better.  While having the tire fixed we realized that the registrations on both our trucks had expired.  Crap, I was supposed to do that two weeks ago.  Oh yeah, I had a fire, and a flood.  So yesterday was spent running around getting things done that we had to get done, and had forgotten to do.

Over the last couple of week's living in such tight quarters, much of that time has been spent talking.  It's a good thing, it has brought us closer.  One of the funniest things that came out of my husbands mouth was this... "Maybe it's a good thing we had the fire BEFORE the flood..."  I never thought in a million years how true, that statement would be.  He was right.  After the flood, cleaning companies from all over the country have been flocking to RI to help out homeowners that have been flooded out by all the rain water.  Had it been the other way around, a flood before the fire, we would have never been able to find a hotel room that would suit all of us.  So yes, having a fire, before the flood, was probably a good thing.  Not that I would wish for any, but if it had to come I guess looking at things as half full, it's better that it happened the way it did.

The only issue we have right now is with the cleaning company, they have been swamped with other people's flooded out basements, which are considered more of a top priority apparently, they haven't been back to our house since last Wednesday.  So that's an additional six days that the soot and smell have been overpowering my home.  My sense of smell has become rather sensitive to that smell.  The only way I can describe such a smell, is this... Have you ever started your oven, only to realize too late that there was a plastic lid, or plastic bowl that was being stored inside that you had forgotten about?  That's what my entire house smells like, the walls, the floors, the ceilings, the wood, everything.  There is a machine running 24/7 to minimize the particles, and odor.  They say the levels have dropped a bit.  I don't smell it less.  If anything, I seem to be able to smell it more.  I was unlocking the front door of my house yesterday, when I smelt it.  I hadn't even opened the door yet, and I could smell it. So either the smell is getting worse, not better, or I have just become rather sensitive to that smell, and if that's the case, then I don't want a single item that was in that house. Sentimental value or not, that smell is a constant reminder of what has happened.

We had gone to the cleaning companies place to pick up a few items that were done being cleaned, my prescription glasses being one of them.  I put the glasses on my face, only to smell that burnt plastic smell.  Since my frames were plastic frames, the scent doesn't come out of them too well.  My eye doctor doesn't do business with the company that makes the frames that I love so much, little black and white rectangular frames made by Brendel.  I am hoping I will be able to find them online.  I'm not getting my hopes up as they are last years frames.  Maybe I will be able to find a similar model that look just as good.  That's on my agenda for today, so wish me luck in finding them!

My Apologies

I thought I posted this earlier, but after going through all the posts over the last two weeks, I realized that I hadn't posted.  I was hosting a giveaway for a $50.00 Safeway Gift Card.  Unfortunately that gift card, melted beyond recognition in the house fire we had.  I will not be able to honor that gift card, however, I will be announcing a winner within the next week, for a $50.00 Walmart Gift Card instead.  I do apologise for this mishap.  Please be patient, as I will get this done as soon as I can.  Thanks Everyone!

Living Out Of A Hotel Room...

This is a picture of a room that is slightly larger then the one we are in here at the Homewood Suites,Last-Minute Deals!.  I believe this is one of the two bedroom suites.  We are in a one bedroom suite. There are no 2 bedroom suite available right now. There is myself, my husband, our 12 year old twin girls, and the two dogs.  The cat is still at the house, being kept in a room that wasn't touched by the fire, or the flood.  We go see her everyday, and make sure she has food and water, and clean litter, and spend a little time there petting her, and giving her some attention.  We have to go back to the house everyday, as our Mastiff, will not go to the bathroom anywhere, except his own backyard.  Go figure.

I woke this morning to the sun shining, and birds chirping.  Normally this would be a welcoming sound.  Right now, not so much.  It is only a reminder that I cannot plant my spring flowers, or start a garden, work on getting some outdoor spring clean up done.  No, we live in a hotel room.  I miss my house.  I miss waking up in the morning, going out to the kitchen and grabbing my favorite coffee mug, and pouring a hot cup of coffee.  I miss looking out the windows of our sunroom, watching the dogs play, curled up in my favorite chair.  I miss everything about my house.

I try not to think about that it may be as much as six months before we are able to get back into our house, it's just too depressing.  If we are not at the house cleaning, and going through things, we are in the hotel room, listing out everything we owned in a spreadsheet.  Trying to remember every little thing we had is exhausting.  Everything has to be listed out, and itemized, one by one.  I am now going on day five of doing this.  Pictures are a must.  You can't possibly remember everything without pictures.  Just when I thought I had everything, I went through the pictures again, and found about 2 dozen additional items that I had forgotten about.  I have taken just about 1500 pictures, and have looked at every single one of them and more than once.

I have a feeling that the pictures will be coming in handy once we turn this spreadsheet in to the insurance company.  I have a sneaking feeling they are going to call on several entries that have been listed.  For instance, I think they will be calling on the 35 cans of tomato sauce, or the 20 packages of egg noodles, or the 500 coathangers, or the 26 bottles of shampoo and conditioners.  I don't think they realize that I am a deal finding shopper.  One of the hardest parts of putting this spreadsheet together, was pricing the items.  Yes I get these items when they are on sale, and pay next to nothing for many items, however now I need to replace these, and I may have to pay full price for these items.  So I had to realize that I needed to put in the regular prices, not the prices that I paid for these.

My biggest delimma was and still is, what price do I put on my coupon binder?  Do I list the price of just the binder, or do I list the price of the binder, and all the coupons inside?  I had  A LOT of coupons.  Keyword there is HAD.  I now have to work on getting my coupon stach back up to where it was.  Do you know anyone that has been in this situation?  If anyone has any thoughts on how I should list the vaue of my coupons, I would greatly appreciate it.

Happy Easter!!

Happy Easter everyone!  Take the time today to enjoy the people you love, watch the children hunt for eggs, laugh, and smile.  We will be Easter Brunch with some family today, and then back to the house to get some more work done.  We will then be heading back to the hotel room to rest up for what I'm sure will be another long week.  I hope everyone has a wonderful day today.  I will be posting some content later on today.  Being in the hotel room, there really isn't that much to do, so I will be keeping myself busy with some deal searching.

Updates...

Many of you have been wondering how things have been going on the home front with the house fire, and then getting hit with a flood in our basement.  It seems we have been getting hit with one catastrophe after the next, when yesterday, as we were cleaning out the basement, trying to get all the carpeting out of the house as soon as possible to prevent any mold from starting, our daughters came home with my dad, when they automatically went to the backyard to see the dogs.  Problem... There was only one dog in the backyard, not two.  Our Black Lab, Byron, had gotten out of the yard, and went missing.  Now Byron and my girls have grown up with each other.  They were only one when we had gotten him.  They were devastated.  I was devastated for them, and for our younger but larger dog, Boon, the English Mastiff.  ( who has lost nearly 50 lbs from all the stress)

Okay, tearing the carpeting out, comes to a screeching halt, and now there are 5 of us, walking up and down the street yelling out for Byron.  Panic sets in.  I can't possibly handle another blow, not now.  I can't possibly handle the additional look of sadness on my girls faces, not now, not after they have already lost so much.  My dad decided to drive them around and look on the next few streets, as we try and get the carpeting done.  I don't remember much during the final hours of getting the carpeting out, except for nearly losing it.  I just kept saying over and over in my head, not now, not again.

After a while, I convinced the girls to go with my dad, to get their minds off of things, and my husband and I finished the basement.  Once we were done, it was time to head out, only I didn't want to leave.  We decided we would drive the neighborhood and take another look around.

No sooner did we get to the end of our street, we saw a woman walking her dog.  We stopped to ask if she had seen a Black.... and she finished our sentence.....Lab with a Purple collar?  I screamed YES!!  She sent us in the right direction, his last known appearance... We get there, and he's gone.  Someone had grabbed him, because they were afraid he might get hit by a car, and started knocking on doors to find out where he lived.  The only problem was, was that he was walking away from our house.  Another street, and we spotted him.  I threw my truck into park, and jumped out and grabbed him!  Finally a happy ending!  No sooner was I on the phone to tell the girls we had found him....alive and well.  As I write this post now, he is laying at my feet.

Today... We had it.  Enough working, enough worrying, we needed a break.  So that we did, a nice drive to see what all the rain left us with.  The floods, the washed out bridges, the buildings that are still underwater.  It always amazes me what water can do.  It's odd to see so many National Guardsmen around directing traffic, due to so many road closures, including Route 95.

Which brings me to a rather important emergency tip for those of you that have pets.  Especially large pets.  Do some homework now, in order to prevent panic later.  Many hotels now a days are pet friendly.  However, hotels are not all the same when it comes to pets.  Many have weight limits, where they wont accept animals over 40lbs.  Some hotels state cats only, or dogs only.  Some even state only one pet per room.  By doing a little leg work now, if and when you have an emergency, you will know ahead of time where you can go with your pets.

I will be putting together some emergency tips, and lists in a few days when I have a little more time, but until then, I will just be jotting things down here and there.  If I help only one person with the emergency tips, it will all be worth it to me, as I never knew about all the little things we take for granted on a day to day basis, that changes when you are in the midst of an emergency.

New Printable Coupons!!

Coupons Inc.

It's the first of the month again!  There are lots of great new printable coupons available to print!  I haven't been able to print any out, as my printer became one big melted blob, after the house fire.  As soon as we are back in our house, the first thing I will be buying will be a new printer,  unfortunately, it may be as long as 6 months before we are back in our house.
